BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAMME

Our programme during before and after school care is recreationally-based and is planned around the children's interests, ideas and feedback. Staff guide the programme following the national framework for school age care, My Time, Our Place. Our commitment is to facilitate a programme that is fun, safe, interesting and inclusive and where children can relax, explore new ideas and skills, be creative, enhance their social, physical, emotional and creative development. We use Storypark to document and share our programme with families and you can follow along with a Storypark account. Your input, ideas and feedback are always welcome.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMES ON OFFER IN 2026

1. Homework Club:

Homework Club runs on Monday afternoons for children who would like to complete homework while at the centre. We offer a quiet space with supervision (often teacher-trained) from 4:00 - 5:00pm.

2: Music Experiences

Many of the children enjoy musical experiences with ex-teacher Lisa Varjavandi who volunteers her time with us on a Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 - 4:45pm. Lisa's classes are calm, enjoyable and fun. They are optional and there are no extra costs.

3: Gardening Club

Springwood Neighbourhood Centre will be running a gardening club from 12 March to 21 May with staff, volunteers and all children who would like to participate. We have some expert volunteers who will be helping us refresh the garden beds and plant herbs, vegetables, flowers and bush tucker as well as imparting their knowledge and love of gardening to the children. This will be on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00pm and there are no extra costs.
